Austin A. Watson, 89, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at his home with his family by his side, under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.
Austin was born on June 21, 1927, in Cornell WI. He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII, until his honorable discharge in 1945. After returning, on April 7, Austin was united in marriage to Grace Martin. He worked for Armours in Eau Claire for 37 years, retiring in 1982. Not only was Austin an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener, he cherished teaching this art to his children and friends. He was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather that will be missed by all.
Austin is survived by his daughter, Joyce (Richard) Hartz of Chippewa Falls; grandson, John (Heather) Bowe of Chippewa Falls; granddaughter, Ejaye (Zach) Gilbert of Boulder CO; great-grandchildren, Zander, Caiden and Anisa Gilbert; son-in-law, Don Wooley and family; the Douglas family; along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Grace; daughter, Carol Wooley; and half-brother, Warren Moen.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E. Columbia Street, Chippewa Falls, with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Pastor Terri Koca will be officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls, with Military Honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council. There will be a time of fellowship at the Fill Inn Station following the interment.
