She was a member of St. Simeon's Episcopal Church in the Town of Lafayette since the time of her marriage in 1936. She loved her church so much that she wrote a history book about it from the time it was built in 1912. She named the book "The Little Church with a Big Heart". She also wrote a history book about her whole family from the time they homesteaded their Hendry farm in 1862. The farm has stayed in the family over the years and is now owned by Bernice's son Donald. She loved the many happy memories and exciting times with her children, grandchildren and friends through the years and showed them all her love.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Dorene Karlson; her parents; three sisters, Pearl, Doris, Irene; her brother Orvin; and one grandson Larry Wolfe.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 12 at Christ Episcopal Church in Chippewa Falls with Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating assisted by Rev. Aaron Zook. Interment will follow service at Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.
