SERVICE:

Charles "Chuck" J. Lubs, 70, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at the Wisconsin Veteran's Home after a courageous battle with cancer and while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.

Chuck was born April 29, 1944 in Chippewa Falls to William and Beatrice "Tobie" Lubs. He spent his childhood there along with his siblings. He attended the local Catholic schools, graduating from McDonell High in 1963.

Chuck entered the US Navy during the Vietnam War and was a decorated veteran for his service to his country during that time. After his return, he spent most of his adult life working in car sales which he enjoyed, "as you couldn't beat the fresh air and seeing someone in a new car!"

Although he was born in Chippewa Falls and passed away there, he left the cold country and moved to Clearwater, Florida where he resided for over 20 years. There he worked for the United States Post Office in Tampa. He enjoyed his life there and the many friends and experiences he had during that time, of which his favorite was watching the sunsets at the beach.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, William and Beatrice as well as his second wife, Nancy.

He is survived by his three sons, Barry (Tanya), Tony (Heather) and Jason (Ashley), as well as his grandchildren, Dylan, Sawyer, Lyvia, Campbell, William, Faith and Alyza. He is further survived by his sister, Debbie Folska and his brother, Bob (Sandy). He also leaves behind his first wife and mother of his children, Kay Jarc, as well as many other special friends and family.

Chuck was grateful for the time he had with all of those he loved. His proudest accomplishment was by far his three sons and seeing what fine husbands, fathers and men that they have become. He was also proud to have been able to serve his country and express the patriotism he held in his heart. He will be missed by many.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 30 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Msgr. Mark Pierce of Notre Dame Catholic Church officiating. Interment with military honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will be at Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Chuck's honor may go to the Veteran's Housing and Recovery Program, 2820 E. Park Ave., Chippewa Falls, WI 54729.

Chuck's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the St. Joseph's Hospice staff for their compassion and kindness; and to the staff at the Veterans Home for their excellent care shown to Chuck during his stay there.
