Dale Bergeron

Dale J. Bergeron, 82, of Chippewa Falls, WI, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, at Meadow Brook Nursing Home in Bloomer under the care of St. Croix Hospice, and surrounded by his loved ones.

Born February 2, 1944, in Chippewa Falls. Dale was born to George P. and Marcella (Plante) Bergeron. He grew up on a farm near Marsh-Miller Lake, Attended Brush Prairie grade school, and graduated from Bloomer High in 1962. Dale answered his country's call and served with honor in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967, including duty overseas in Panama. He returned to Bloomer and worked at UOP before dedicating many years to the Chippewa County Highway Department, retiring in 2011.

A devout and spiritual man, Dale attended church every week throughout his life. Dale's gentle heart defined his character. For 24 years he opened his home and provided his widowed mother, comfort, companionship, and dignity until her death in 1991. In 1997, he married Delores (Wagner) Peterson at Notre Dame Church. He was a devoted husband until her passing in 2018.

He was the favorite uncle to his seventeen nieces and nephews who loved listening to his entertaining stories. Dale delighted everyone with tall stories about his encounters with Bigfoot roaming the woods of Chippewa County-tales he told with a twinkle in his eye that left the children wide-eyed, laughing and begging for more.

Those who knew Dale will remember his kindness and gentle heart. He found joy in simple pleasures-bowling (where he earned many trophies), fishing year- round, hunting, gardening, making maple syrup and watching the Brewers and Green Bay Packers.

Dale is survived by his brothers, Gary (Diana) Bergeron of Eau Claire, Loren (Deb) Bergeron of Chippewa Falls; his sisters, Deanna (Dennis) Metza of Chippewa Falls and Georgina Boucher of Barronette; his stepsons, Michael, Steven and Perry Peterson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and brother-in-law, Allen Boucher.

The Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, with a visitation one hour prior to the Mass at church. The interment will be in Hope Catholic Cemetery, Chippewa Falls, with Military Honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Notre Dame Catholic Church or to the Donor’s choice.
