Dale Dwain Johnson, 86, passed away unexpectedly at Luther Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire, on Sunday, April 28, 2024.

On March 16, 1938, Dale was born to Dwain “Jack” and Jeverna (Steinmetz) Johnson in Colfax, WI.  Following his graduation from Eau Claire High School, he served his country with the US Army until his Honorable Discharge in 1963.

Dale spent his career in the printing business and retired early to spend more time in his happy place, at the "Ranch".   He found joy in the simple pleasures of country living. He kept busy with cooking, canning and working in the garden. A warm sunny day was perfect for sitting outside on a lawn chair, watching his garden grow. Dale loved reading, especially WWII stories, spending time with his dogs and could watch the kittens play for hours. He spent many hours fishing in the boat and went to more auctions than he could count. You could always find Dale puttering in his garage. But most of all his pride and joy were his garden and faithful sidekick, Boo.

Dale found nothing better than sitting around his mom’s dining table, lighting a few oil lamps, turning on some old bluegrass music and reminiscing about the “good ole days.”

A devoted father, brother and grandfather, Dale is survived by his daughters, Pamela Johnson and Marcie Hitchcock; granddaughter, Savannah; and his brother, Dwight (Sharon) Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Prairie View Cemetery, Village of Lake Halle, with Military Honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.

In lieu of flowers, and due to Dale’s love of all growing things, please consider planting something in his honor.

Dales’s family would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff at Luther Mayo Hospital for their compassion & support during this time.
