Daniel Bohan, age 63, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Thursday, October 12, 2017.
He was born December 19, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois to Mary (Wilson) and Eugene Bohan. He grew up in the Carpentersville area in suburban Chicago and graduated from Barrington High School, class of 1972.
Dan served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1975-79.
On December 27, 2012, Dan married Cherie Johnson DeVries. They had been together close to 20 years by the time they were married. They have a son, Alec, who they were blessed with in 1994.
Dan, Cherie and Alec moved to Chippewa Falls in 2001, where Daniel worked in the Shipping/Receiving Department at Menard's. Dan was most content being outdoors. He enjoyed pontoon rides at his in-laws on Lake Holcombe, fishing, and hanging out in his garage. He was often working on his motorcycle or helping friends with theirs. He had been a Harley-Davidson owner for over 44 years, and he loved going for rides with Cherie on the back...they joked about all of the blurred photos she'd take from the back of the Harley. Dan was so proud of his son, Alec and the young man he had become. As a veteran himself, Dan boasted about how his son played Taps for many military funerals while in high school, and what an honorable act it was.
Survivors include his wife, Cherie; son, Alec, both of Chippewa Falls; his mother, Mary Bohan of Crystal Lake, IL; in laws, Walt and Ruth Johnson of Lake Holcombe; siblings, Eugene "Gene" (Iris) of Muskego, Judy (Jeff) Olson of Cary, IL, Kathy (Bryan) La Brec, Patrick, all of Crystal Lake, IL; brother-in-law, Doug (Erlene) Johnson of Seattle, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Dan’s brother-in-law, Rev. Doug Johnson officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council immediately following the service at the funeral chapel.
Visitation will be from 3 PM until the time of the services at the funeral chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to the Homeless Veterans, the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council or to the charity of your choice.
