Delbert W. Zimpel

Delbert W. Zimpel, age 93, died Friday, January 2, 2026, at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, WI.

Delbert was born on August 15, 1932, in Medford, WI to Arthur and Carrie (Nelson) Zimpel. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Myrna Laabs, on June 22, 1963. Together, they moved to Chippewa Falls in 1967, where Delbert worked as a government inspector at National Presto Industries for many years. They also owned and operated a horse ranch in Lafayette. After retirement, Delbert enjoyed restoring and rebuilding two-cylinder John Deere tractors.

Delbert is survived by his son, David Zimpel of Mauston; grandchildren, Erin (David) Paris of St. Petersburg, FL, Ryan (Kelsey) McDowall of Aberdeen, WA; great grandchildren, Hudson and Grayson Paris and Kellen and Saylor McDowall; sister, Carol Kirkpatrick of Kernersville, NC; brother, Harvey (Laura) Zimpel of Abilene, TX; and son-in-law, Carl Amato of Spencer, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Myrna; son, Guy Zimpel; daughter, Beth Amato; brothers, Richard and Jerry Zimpel; daughter-in-law, Sherrill Zimpel; sisters-in-law, Sue and Donelle Zimpel; and brother-in-law, Ronald, Kirkpatrick.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., Friday, May 15 at Faith Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at church with Rev. William Plautz and Rev. Mark Neumann officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.

Interment will be at Bateman Cemetery in the town of Lafayette at a later date.
