Dr. Wescott

December 17, 1928 — October 31, 2017

Dr. Robert Anthony Wescott was born on December 17th, 1928, the second born of Leah (LaVigne) and Garney Wescott. He died surrounded by his loving family on October 31st, 2017.

Robert had a full life of almost 89 years. He graduated from McDonell High School in 1946 and went on to enlist in the army. He served as a World War II vet and also was drafted for the Korean war. He got his Bachelor of Science Degree from University of St. Thomas in 1952 and his doctorate in Veterinary Science from the University of Minnesota in 1957.

Robert was a much loved husband of Lenore (Vaudreuil), for almost 68 years, a devoted father of thirteen children, (11 surviving) a grandfather to 45 grandchildren, and a great-grandpa to 57 great-grandchildren. Robert and Lenore raised their family in Elgin, MN where “Doc” practiced veterinarian medicine for 24 years. During his working years, Robert was also a professor of large animal obstetrics at the University of Minnesota, served on the Examining Board of Veterinary medicine, was president of the Minnesota Veterinarian Medical Association and was a Diplomat of the American College of Theriogenology. While in Elgin, he was also an active member in the community and the St. Joachim Parish.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David and Vincent; one grandson, Cody Wescott; and a sister, Rozlyn Wescott.

In 1996, Robert and Lenore moved back to their hometown of Chippewa Falls, WI where they built a home on the river. His years of retirement were filled with his very large family, time with friends, traveling, woodworking projects, cooking, and enjoying the outdoors.

Besides his many accomplishments in life, Robert was a deeply spiritual person. He was committed to sharing his faith with his friends and family right down to the last minutes of his life on earth.

Robert has had an amazing impact on people around the world with his great wisdom, generous heart, and contagious smile, not to mention many great meals and sundaes. He is leaving behind a legacy of spiritual values, selflessness and unconditional love. He will be deeply and forever missed but we take comfort in knowing that he is now free of pain and in the arms of his Father.
