Dr. Earl E. Wilson, 85, of 11134 State Hwy 29, Chippewa Falls, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

He was born December 3, 1924 in Ladysmith to Grace (Hilliker) and William Wilson. He was raised in Ladysmith where he graduated from high school in 1942. He then served in the U.S. Army-Air Corps from 1943 until being honorably discharged March 1946. He then attended the UW- Madison for two years and then the Pennsylvania School of Optometry. After graduation had an optometry practice in Chippewa Fall for 42 years.

Earl married Judith M. Schanck on June 27, 1953 at Hope Lutheran Church in Ladysmith. They have resided in Chippewa Falls/town of Wheaton since their marriage.


Earl was active in the Chippewa Falls community for many years. He served on the Chippewa Falls Police and Fire Commission, he was active in the Chippewa Valley Boy Scouts as a Scout Master and was a member of the Rotary Club and Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Judith M. Wilson; three sons, Wade M. (Pat Rineck) Wilson of Shoreview, Minn., David C. Wilson of Park Falls, Scott T. Wilson of Waukesha; two grandchildren, Eric E. and Alisa M. Wilson; one sister, Dorothy Schmidt of Sheboygan and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Kim E.Wilson on July 5, 1983; two brothers, Ray and Delbert Wilson and one sister, Arla Loveland.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30a.m., Wednesday, May 26 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel with Rev. Terri Koca of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.

Friends may call from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the chapel
