Emil A. Tichy, 80, of Jim Falls, died peacefully, with his family by his side, on Monday, July 24, 2017, at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. He was born on August 23, 1936, to Anton and Mary (Prosecky) Tichy in Jim Falls.
Emil was born and raised in Jim Falls. He married Marlene Webber on August 23, 1958, at Central Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls. Emil farmed in the town of Anson and owned his own milk route for many years. He worked at Falls Dairy and was also a school bus driver. Emil worked as a carpenter for Chapek Carpentry and General Supply Building Centers. Later, he drove semi-truck for Fanetti Trucking in Jim Falls, Zutter Elevators, Thaler Oil and Lake Holcombe Industries, retiring after almost two million miles of driving.
Emil enjoyed camping with his family and friends at O'neil Creek Campground, traveling, and going to the Hodag Country Festival. He also enjoyed woodworking in his workshop. Emil always had a special place in his heart for all his pets, sometimes pampering them more than his own children. Emil had a joking sense of humor that will be carried on through his family. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother that will be missed by all.
Emil is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marlene of Jim Falls; children, Shirley Smith of Chippewa Falls, Roland "Rollie" (Mary) Tichy of Cadott, Linda (Dan) Hunt of Chippewa Falls, Diane (Dan) Woodford of Jim Falls, and Brenda (Dennis) Sykora of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Tiffany Nicholson, Justin Normand, Travis Normand, Robin Steinke, April (Eric) Bruhn, Karena Hunt (Dan Sullivan), Cassie (Isaac) Ryba, Jeremy Hunt and Jessica Sykora; great-grandchildren, Cheyanne, Andrew, Braden, McKenna, Beau, Ethan, and Adaline; sisters, Esther Kurth and Bessie Lauer; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Agnes (Earl) Popple; brothers-in-law, Duane Kurth and Earl Lauer.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E. Columbia St., Chippewa Falls, with Rev. Jim Woldhuis officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. All are invited to the Jim Falls Town Hall for a time of reflection and fellowship following the committal service.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service Wednesday at the chapel.
