Francis "Geno" Furst, 80, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully surrounded by his family, at his home on Monday, June 19, 2017. He was born on May 20, 1937, in Menomonee, MI, to Frank and Lillian (Lacour) Furst.

Gene married Sandy Spaeth on October 24, 1959, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls. He honorably served our country with the U.S. Army from September 1956 to September 1958. Prior to his service, he worked at Chippewa Shoe. After his time in the service, he worked at Chippewa Woolen Mill and in 1965, he began working at Leinenkugel Brewing Company, retiring in 1999.

Gene enjoyed gardening and ice fishing. He was an avid Packer and Badger fan. Gene enjoyed visiting his home state of Michigan. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather that will be missed by all who knew him.

Gene is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandy; his daughter, Kathy Furst-Stanek of Chippewa Falls; his son, Randy (Kim) Furst of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Jeanie (Blaine) Niesen-Edington of Chippewa Falls, Myranda (Kevin) Stanek-Laumann of Midland, TX, and Ashley Furst of Chippewa Falls; three great-grandchildren, Maurice, Tearien and Izabela; siblings, Donald (Diane) Furst of Chippewa Falls, and Robert (Barb) Furst of Chippewa Falls; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Esther Olson.

A funeral service will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E. Columbia Street, Chippewa Falls, with a visitation beginning at 4 p.m. Sister Yvonne Hiess will be officiating.A private Entombment will be in Hope Cemetery Mausoleum, Chippewa Falls, with Military Honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.

The family wishes to thank HSHS Sacred Heart and St. Joseph's Hospitals, especially St. Joseph's Hospice.
