Gary R. Burgess

Gary R. Burgess, 86, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully at Lake Hallie Memory Care on Friday, January 30, 2026.

On September 24, 1939, Gary was born to Lyman and Valeria (Reed) Burgess in Eau Claire, WI. He graduated from Altoona High School with the class of 1957. He married Patricia Manor in August of 1957. They later divorced and He married Judith Obrien Belknap in April of 1992.

Gary owned and operated Ol’Barn Truck and Auto Body since 1980. He truly was one of the best body men in the area. He loved what he did, never complaining and faithfully showing up to work daily until the ripe age of 85. He was always happy to stop and chat with his many friends; it was a real bonus if they had brought along a sweet treat.

He was an avid Nascar fan who attended many races over the years. But he really loved dirt track racing which he owned, worked on and sponsored many dirt track cars through the years. When he wasn’t at the track you would find him cruising around in his 49 Ford or boating on Lake Wissota. Once fall came along you were guaranteed to find him in his chair watching the Packers. He loved attending family events and took great pride and joy in watching his grandchildren grow up.

Gary is survived by his wife, Judith; children, Shelly (Dan) Boehnlein of Chippewa Falls, Todd (Linda) Burgess of Cadott, and Jami (George) Jackson of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Tricia (Jeff) Swink, Tanya (Korry) Boos, Cory (Audrey) Jackson, and Bobbi Burgess (Lance Breitnauer); great-grandchildren, Cole Swink (Hannah Thomson), Calli Swink, Kaine, Kalon, and Kaiden Boos; great-great-granddaughter, Ellenore (Elle)Swink; step-children, Kelly Roshell, Tara Schleicher and Susan (Mike) Reese; step-grandchildren, Joseph and Jordan Roshell, and Jacob Reese; along with many other extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Brian Burgess.

The Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the Cadott Lions Pavilion in Cadott from 12:30pm to 4:30pm.
