George S. Felmlee, a beloved father & grandfather, 95 years young, left this world September 10, 2020, in Billings, Montana, with his son Dwight beside him.

He was bright minded & full of optimism until the day he passed. George, “Toke”, was born in Jim Falls, Wisconsin to John Spurgeon Felmlee & Bessie Sherman Felmlee, one of seven children.

When George turned 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy & went to Long Island N.Y. for aviator training. During WWII he served on several destroyers & aircraft carriers in the South Pacific Theatre. He was present at the signing of Japans unconditional surrender, ending WWII. At wars end, he returned home to Jim Falls and met the love of his life, Wilma Jean Pitsch. They married in l947 and had 2 children, Cheryl & Dwight.

George operated a boarding and training kennel, near Chippewa Falls, for upland bird dogs. He loved the profession and continued training dogs for years, being sought out for his excellence in the field trial arena. George had a passion for hunting, was a super marksman and long range shooter. The family moved from Wisconsin to Salem, Oregon in l964. He opened an office in Salem, of the Garrot-Christman Insurance Co., located in Green Bay, Wisconsin. But, the call of adventure beckoned him again. George, Wilma & Dwight moved to Anchorage, Alaska in l967.

Georges life of adventure met his wildest dreams with the best fishing, hunting and soon to be guiding big game Alaskan animals. He owned & flew bush planes from Cape Sarachef to Nebesna to Kotzebue to the Siberian coast. He never lost his love for flying and continued to do so for 65 years! He was a mentor to his son, son-in-law & grandsons, who all became outstanding pilots, of which he was very proud! He was also a proud Alaska 959 Teamster retiree. He had worked on the Trans Alaska pipeline, Alaska road projects, Anchorage Int’l Airport expansion & North Slope Oilfield trucking. George was a member of the American Legion, NRA and proudly flew the Stars & Stripes wherever he lived. The family moved from Alaska in 1979 & owned Aerial crop spraying businesses in Florida, Idaho & Mt. He flew Pipers, Cessnas & Stearmans, l0’ off the ground, over the crops then pulling straight up over the hills! But, no matter how versatile, expert aviator, excellent marksman or accomplished he was; you would never hear him boast. He always wanted to know how you were doing. He was determind, honorable & offered the best advice. He would say ”Never judge a person until you walk a mile in his shoes”.

George was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Wilma; his parents, John (Jack) & Bessie Felmlee, siblings John Jr., Glenn, William, Darrell, Virginia & Lorraine Heidtke.

He is survived his son Dwight (Peggy), daughter, Cheryl Bass (Bill); grandchildren, Summer (Bass) Neuroth Xaylitdet (Sam) , Hunter Bass, Colt Felmlee (Sarah), Dusty Felmlee, Forrest Felmlee (Jenny) & 10 great-grandchildren.

We are all blessed by George’s life with us.
