Gladys H. Spickler, 102, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Tuesday, April 25, 2017.

Gladys was born September 6, 1914 in Dixon IL, to Ed and Edna (Carlson) Thurm. She was united in marriage to Fred Spickler Sr on October 22, 1930 in Clinton Iowa. When first coming to the area she farmed and owned a Fruit Market to provide for her family, she later attended Nursing School and was a Registered Nurse at the Rutledge Home in Chippewa Falls and Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. She also worked second jobs at the Root Beer Stand in Eau Claire, Glove Factory and Drive-In Theatre in Lake Hallie, and later in life ran her own daycare.

Gladys loved her family above and beyond anything, she loved to be youthful and loved to dance.

She was the most caring, giving, loving and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Gladys will be missed and loved forever by so many relatives and friends. Though there are not enough words to say how wonderful she was, she was the prettiest girl in a red dress you ever saw.

She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; sons-in-law, Jack Pickerign and John D. Olson; daughter-in-law, Karen Spickler; sisters, Dolly, Adena and Mildred; brother, Elmer.
