Glennon, Margaret

Margaret Glennon, 104, a charter resident of the Bluffs Senior Living Community in Houghton, Michigan, passed away Wednesday evening, January 13, 2010. For the past two weeks, she had been a patient at the Omega House in Houghton.

She was born March 19, 1905 in Menomonie, WI to Ragnhild (Olsen) and Gunder Hansen. She grew up in Menomonie and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1923. She continued her education at the University of WI at Eau Claire, earning a teaching certificate in 1925 and later a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education.

Margaret taught in Westboro and then in Menomonie until 1937. She married John Martin Glennon on December 29, 1937 in Waukon, Iowa and they resided in Herculaneum, Missouri until moving to Rice Lake and then to Chippewa Falls in 1945. There she taught second grade at the Ninth Ward-Southview Grade School from 1953 until retiring in 1970. They moved to Houghton in 1993 to be near their daughter.
