James E. "Jim" Erickson, 83, of 2465 113th St., Chippewa Falls, village of Lake Hallie, died Friday, March 19, 2010 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.

He was born March 3, 1927 in the town of Washington, Eau Claire to Anna (Klingel) and Emil Erickson. He was raised in the town of Washington and later moved to the town of Hallie. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1945.

In 1947, he began employment with Northern States Power. Jim entered the U.S. Army, serving from 1950-1952 where he was stationed in Germany. He then returned to Northern States Power working in the Hydro Department for 40 years, retiring as Hydro Department Manager in 1988.

Jim married Nellie B. Dutton on July 3, 1954 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls.

He was a member of Hallie United Methodist Church, where he was a trustee; and was on the Prairie View Cemetery Board of Directors.

Survivors include: his wife Nellie; a daughter, Amy (Thomas) Guse of Oak Ridge, North Carolina; a son, Hugh James (Jeri Ann) Erickson of Mosinee; three sisters, Dorothy Holtman of Chippewa Falls, Florence Gilbert of Eau Claire, Betty DeWitz of Altoona; six grandchildren, Preston, Parker and Paige Guse, Olivia, Trevor and Colin Erickson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Violet Cleasby.

Jim loved to hunt and fish in the great outdoors.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 27 at Hallie United Methodist Church, Village of Lake Hallie with Rev. Eric Nelson officiating. Interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Friday, March 26 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service at the church.
