James E. Walton

James E. “Jim” Walton, 79, of Eau Claire, formerly of Chippewa Falls, died at his home on Friday, February 9, 2024.

Jim was born January 28, 1945, in Chippewa Falls to Kenneth and Alvina (Schnese) Walton.  He grew up in Chippewa Falls and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School. 

In June of 1963, he married Susan Rooney and they had four children. He worked for many years at Pope and Talbot Paper Mill in Eau Claire and was a Step Force volunteer at Luther Hospital. 

He was a WI sports fan and enjoyed cheering for the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers.  He also like to spend time fishing with his buddies. 

Jim is survived by his sons, Wade (Sue) Walton of Eau Claire and John Walton of Chippewa Falls; daughters, Angela Walton-Fox of Chippewa Falls and Sandra (Mark) Leuthe of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Andrea (Eric) McKenna, Lisa Walton, Kyle Leuthe, Katie Leuthe, and Jacob Walton; great-grandchildren, Pierce and Parker McKenna; and former spouse, Susan. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Kenneth and Terry Walton.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 7 at Zion Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Brad Thomas officiating.  Visitation will begin at the church at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls.
