Janet M. Carroll

Janet Marie Carroll (nee Voiers), 82, was called home to the God who gave her life on Friday, November 10, 2023, at the St. Mary’s Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

She was born in her Grandmother Amanda Tyree Voiers’ home on August 1, 1941, in Sharon, Kanawha, West Virginia to Thomas Voiers and Mary Marie Hanshaw. Janet married Patrick Joseph Carroll in North Hollywood, Los Angeles, California and three daughters were born to this union: Brenda (Stacy) Sommers, Heidi (Cory) Lamb, and Debi (Russ) Kaline. Janet is further survived by her two sisters, Dorothy “Dottie” Musso and Linda DiPadova; her brother, Richard Voiers; and her nine beloved grandchildren, Jeff, Amanda, Brooke, Doug, Shane, Patrick, Kira, Jared, and Katrina.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick; and her stepson, Greg Carroll.

Mom lived in Whittier, California, for 34 years and helped her husband Patrick as an office manager for their general contracting business, P.J. Carroll Company. She was an avid reader with a special love for Louis L’Amour western novels. An amazing seamstress, she used to sew many of her clothes. She will also be remembered for buying a big white van (at our father’s suggestion) and having “The Laurel Express” painted on the side and carting around ten teenage girls from church to and from their activity nights. We think her best talent, though, was that she loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally. She often babysat her grandchildren and they all loved coming to her house. They knew she loved them and was always in their corner. Mom’s life was not easy, and she went through dark times. We think she did her very best, though, and are more than proud of her. We love her and will miss her with all of our hearts.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3335 Stein Blvd., Eau Claire, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Bishop Doug Hoffer will be officiating. The interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
