Joseph S. Rasmussen, 91, of the town of Lafayette, died Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Aggies Country Living in the town of Eagle Point while under the care of Heartland Hospice.

He was born July 31, 1933, in St. Paul, MN to Oscar and Leona (Tauer) Rasmussen.

On September 14, 1957, he married Marilyn Herbst at St. Paul's Cathedral in St. Paul, MN.

He worked as a Laborer and was a member of the MN Laborers Union, Local 563. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Gladstone Fire Department for 20 years.

Joseph is survived by his daughter, Julie Redland (Roger) of Sun City West, AZ; his grandchildren, Christopher Kopelke (Isabel) and Cara Frokjer (Colin); and great grandchild, Paul Kopelke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marilyn and an infant son.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 25 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Aaron Sturgis officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Military Honors will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.

A private interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to your local animal shelter.
