Joseph Wiener

May 26, 1948 — October 10, 2017

On October 10, 2017 after a valiant 16 year fight with heart disease and stroke, Joe received total victory over all of his afflictions when he was brought into the presence of the Lord. He was surrounded by his loving family when he walked into Glory.

Joe was born on May 26, 1948 to John and Veronica (Clochesy) Wiener in Fond du Lac, WI. He graduated from St. Mary’s Springs Academy in 1966 also in Fond du Lac. On August, 31, 1968 Joe was united in marriage to the love of his life Mary Ann Muckerheide. Together they raised 4 children. Joe graduated from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration in 1987.

Although, he was a degreed accountant, Joe was a man of many talents and it was cooking that was his true passion. Joe owned and operated The Garden Restaurant at Timber Terrace Golf Course in Chippewa Falls from 1995-1998. After he closed The Garden, he worked for the Plaza Hotel and Suites and the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire’s dining services. Joe loved to teach others the art and joy of cooking. He gave many young people their first job in the restaurant industry and to this day, we run into past employees who thank Joe for their success.

Joe was a very generous man. He would do anything for anyone at any time. He would give you the shirt off his back and in fact he did just that a time or two for those in need.

However, Joe’s greatest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He absolutely loved and cherished his time spent with them. He enjoyed sharing his love for fishing with his whole family. He was such a proud grandfather at his grandchildren’s sporting events. Some of his favorite times were having everyone over for big dinners and watching the Packer games. But most importantly, Joe always made a point to share his love for the Lord with his family and instilled in them a strong faith in Jesus Christ.

Joe is survived by his wife of 49+ years, Mary Ann; his sons, Christopher, Gregory and Nicholas (Kristen); and daughter Sarah (Adam) Bleskacek of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Brittni and Bradley Wiener, Lindsey, Caleb, Abagail and Caitlyn Wiener, and Veronica and Jacob Bleskacek of Chippewa Falls. He is further survived by his brother, Thomas (Shirlee) Wiener of Roswell, GA; sisters, Joann (Noel) Enders of Wauwautosa, WI and Jeanne (Preston) Saunders of Ash Flat, AR; his special aunt, Ann Marie Hau of Sun Prairie, WI; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other special relatives and friends.

Joe was reunited in Glory with his and Mary Ann’s baby girl, Michelle Ann; his parents, John and Veronica Wiener; his sister, Mary Helen Simon; grandparents; father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Patricia Muckerheide; and other relatives.

The family wishes to offer our sincerest thanks to Dr. Richard Horecki, Dr. Richard Hanna, the cardiology and neurology departments at Mayo Health Systems in Eau Claire and to Laurie and Kathy in the INR department in Chippewa Falls for their excellent care and dedication to our husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
