Layne A. Glassbrenner

Layne A. Glassbrenner, 60, of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully with his family by his side under St. Joseph’s Hospice, on Sunday, December 31, 2023.

On April 26, 1963, Layne was born to William and Nonna (Meyer) Glassbrenner in Eau Claire, WI. Layne graduated from Altoona High School with the class of 1981. He was united in marriage to Irene Schneider on June 13, 1998, in Lafayette. He worked at Mega Foods, where he met Irene, later working for Midwest Manufacturing, retiring as a supervisor.

Layne enjoyed the outdoors. Although hunting was not always successful, he cherished the time spent with family and friends. Flying radio control airplanes, bowling, baseball, wrestling and football, are just some of the activities he was fond of. Together, he and Irene enjoyed traveling, especially their trips to Florida. Layne was a kind and caring man that will be missed by all who knew him.

Layne is survived by his wife, Irene; daughter, Alicia Schneider (Steven Gunderson, and his son, Bennett); sisters, Evetta Palmer (Judy Hibbard) and Vanessa Bluem (Ben Parr); father-in-law, Sheldon Schneider; brother-in-law, Peter (Cheryl) Schneider; longtime friend, Jim Stone; along with many nephews, nieces, and many other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and mother-in-law, Dorothy Schneider.

The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E. Columbia St., Chippewa Falls, with a visitation beginning at 9:30. Rev. Mark Schwinn will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Pancreatic Cancer Society or St. Joseph’s Hospice.
