Leitha Louise Swanson, 90, of the town of Eagle Point, died peacefully in her sleep on May 26, 2025, at Our House Memory Care in Chippewa Falls, WI.
She was born November 13, 1934, in Wheeler, WI to Thorwald and Clara (Holte) Smith. She was raised in the Wheeler area and graduated from Colfax High School in 1952.
On June 2, 1956, she married Delmer Swanson at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Sand Creek. They resided in Jim Falls and Chippewa Falls until moving to the town of Eagle Point. During those years Leitha was employed at Falls Dairy from 1953 until 1980. Following that she worked in the office at Cray Research until 1992, when she retired. Leitha greatly enjoyed old time dancing (polka and waltz) and a highlight was her trip to Norway.
Leitha is survived by her children, David Swanson of Bloomer, Kimberly Swanson of Madison, and Sonja (Jon) Leenhouts; grandchildren, Hans (Makaila) Leenhouts, Erik Leenhouts, Keri Leenhouts, all of Chippewa Falls; sister-in-law, Kathy Smith of Altoona; sister-in-law, Bonnie Peterson of Sand Creek; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Janice) Swanson of New Hope, MN and Wesley (Karen) Swanson of Woodville; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delmer in 2005; brothers, Roger (Betty) Smith, Steven Smith, Curtis Smith, Juel (Janice) Smith, and Alfred (Carol) Smith; sisters, Jeanette (Norman) Schwab, and Thelma (Norman) Waterhouse.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel with Pastor Aaron Sturgis officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our House Memory Care, St. Croix Hospice, Christ Lutheran Church or the Chippewa Falls Area Senior Center.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Our House Memory Care and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care that was provided to Leitha for the past 2 years.
