Emblem

Lloyd J. Gund, 91, of Chippewa Falls passed away on Sunday July 14, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born February 9, 1933 in the town of Eagle Point, to Douglas and Marie (Bergeron) Gund. Lloyd graduated from Chippewa Falls Senior High School in 1950. He served in the army from 1950-1953 during the Korean War. In 1954, he met the love of his life, Delores Lancette. They were married in Cadott on June 11, 1955, and raised their 3 daughters in Chippewa Falls.

Lloyd worked many years at Chippewa Plastics and retired as a supervisor from Phoenix Steel in Eau Claire in 1994. Lloyd loved people and was happiest when he had an audience to entertain with his quick wit and classic one-liners (“We’re not here to hang wallpaper!”). Many great times were spent around a campfire at Pike Haven Resort in Winter and at their current “happy place”, NorthStar Resort in Birchwood. Most of all, Lloyd loved his family and never failed to tell them so.

Lloyd will be dearly missed by his wife of 69 years, Delores; his daughters, Lynn (Bill) Musser, Brenda (Greg) Musser, and Peggy (Mike) McKillip; grandchildren, Justin (Kimberly) Musser, Nathan (Cassandra) Musser, Brian (Tiffany) Musser, Daniel (Kyle) Musser, Michael (Nichole) Musser, Kelsey Musser, Nick (Heather) McKillip, Kaeli McKillip; as well as his great-grandchildren, Hayden, Haylee, Drew, Kendal, Arthur, Calvin, Izzy, and Miles. He is further survived by brothers-in-law, Kenny (Kathy) Lancette and Mike Terebecki; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Donna Gund and Sandy Terebecki; mother and father-in-law, Ed and Gladys Lancette; and sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Howard West.

The Memorial Mass will be at 12 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 117 Allen St., Chippewa Falls, with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Fr. David Nowicki will be officiating. The interment will be in Bateman Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.

The family would like to thank Dr Eric Dickson, Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire, Allina Cancer Center in River Falls, and St Croix Hospice for their excellent care, with special thanks to dear family friend and retired hospice nurse, Debbie Lauer, whose compassion, expertise, and calming presence helped to make Lloyd’s final journey just a little bit easier.

Memorials can be made in Lloyd’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
