Lorraine E. Pontius

Lorraine E. Pontius, 95, of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, WI while under the care of Unity Hospice.

She was born on February 25, 1930, in Chippewa Falls to Arthur and Anna (Carlson) Erickson. In 1948, she graduated from Chippewa Falls High School. Lorraine was a lifetime member of Central Lutheran Church.

On December 27, 1953, Lorraine married John Pontius at Central Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls. They resided in Chippewa Falls where Lorraine worked her first job at Northwestern Bank from 1948-1955. She retired from the treasurer’s office where she worked as City Deputy Treasurer for 17 years. Lorraine and John were married for 62 years before John’s passing in 2016. Lorraine loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful wife and mom. Lorraine spent time at social and school events, being an excellent cook, a gardener of beautiful flowers, involved in church activities, enjoying friends at card club and cribbage, golfing for fun, shopping, and being creative with sewing, rosemaling, and crafting.

Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Mary (Brad) Hladish of Prescott, WI, and Linda (Rick) Mattison of Green Bay, WI; grandchildren, Adam (Jessica) Hladish, Joshua (Stacey) Hladish, Jenna (Eric) Mattison Bader and Samuel (Shelby) Mattison; great-grandchildren, Etta, Knox, Miles, Malia, Oliver, Jackson, Addison, Charlie, plus one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; and brother, Richard (Alzada) Erickson.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3 at Central Lutheran Church, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Aaron Sturgis officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Irvine Park.
