Lynette L. Emanuel

Lynette Louise Emanuel went to Jesus on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at home surrounded by friends and family.

Lynette was born May 4, 1954, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, to Geneva (Steinmetz) and John Emanuel. She graduated from Chi Hi in 1972 with honors lettering in Gymnastics her freshman year and enjoying Band, Pep Band, French Club, Ski Club, Athena, Thespians, Model UN, Gymnastics, and Forensics. She was a 4-H member for 9 years showing sheep (Blue ribbon and Championship awards), dogs, horses, plants, sewing; serving as a Junior Leader, giving blue ribbon demonstrations with Kathy Antolak Robbins, and working at the Snack Bar during fair time. 

In 1976, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls with Distinction including Junior and Senior Honors and a Kappa Delta Pi membership with a major in French and a minor in English. Her teaching career took her to Minnesota.

She returned to the university to finish her Master’s Degree in Teaching English serving on the Department of Modern Languages Curriculum Committee and instructing the Writing Lab. 

Still seeking adventure, she moved to San Diego, California, working for a military software engineering contractor as a technical writer and systems analyst for 6 years, enjoying the weather and her family of friends from work!

Then she returned to Wisconsin where she could travel during the summers teaching at Independence and Bloomer, Wisconsin High Schools.

Lynette was fortunate to be able to attend the Universität of Innsbruck, Austria, for two summers of post-graduate education. She also attended King Alfred’s College in Winchester, England for Language Arts teachers. 

She was preceded in death by her dad, Jack, (2019); grandparents, Art and Irma Steinmetz, who were so much a part of her growing up; grandparents, Otto and Ida Emanuel; and Uncle Dick and Aunt Betty Emanuel.

She is survived by her mother, Geneva; sisters, Jennifer Holevatz of Altoona, WI and Colette Emanuel of Petaluma, CA; niece, Jessica (Matt) Whitlow of Greenfield, WI; grandnieces, Piper and Nora Whitlow; grandnephew, Benjamin Whitlow; Aunt Glady and Uncle Harold Hervig; many cousins and close friends; angels: Janet Allison, Gini Baker, Beth Howie, and Sarah O’Neil; honorary brothers: Ford Brown and Steve Clark; and loving friend, Joe Mersberger.

Thanks to the great team at the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center including, Torie, Kelly, Sarah, Carly, and Kaitlyn and the Mayo hospice team, Lisa, Kassie, Joan, and Tom.

Her free spirit will rest in our hearts.

Lynette asked that friends and family wear black. She loved purple, pink, white, and blue roses. 

Memorials can be made directly to domestic violence shelters, food banks, veteran’s needs, historical groups, animal shelters, children’s hospitals, or other charitable organizations close to your heart. 

Visitation will be Saturday, July 13 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. A memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. at Pederson-Volker.
