Mabel Louise Steward

Mabel Louise (Fisher) Steward, age 101, of Chippewa Falls, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. She passed away peacefully at Sacred Heart Hospital following a stroke.

She was born on December 22, 1922 to Mary (Fowler) Fisher and Tom Fisher in Slater, Missouri. During her young adult years, she attended Bob Jones University, was a secretary in the war department of the White House, and played piano for the Billy Graham Crusade. On December 31, 1946, she married Warren Dallas Steward of St. Paul, Minnesota, and they served the Lord together as Pastor and wife in various locations, and served together for the Conservative Baptist Foreign Missions across the world.

Mabel Louise’s greatest passion was serving the Lord and telling others about Jesus. In 1971, she and her husband, Warren Steward, started WWIB Christian Radio Station in Chippewa Falls, 103.7 FM. Mabel Louise ministered to others over the air waves with her program called “At Home with Mabel Louise” for almost 50 years, sharing life lessons from the bible.

Mabel Louise is survived by her four children and their spouses, Terry (Carol) Steward of Chippewa Falls, Konnie Lee of Chippewa Falls, Gregory (Susan) Steward of Chippewa Falls, and Gary (Kelly) Steward of Eau Claire; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Mabel Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Mary (Fowler) Fisher and Tom Fisher; her husband of 47 years, Warren Steward; granddaughter, Tiffany Louise Lee; brothers, Jimmy Fisher and Tommy Fisher; sister, Elizabeth (Fisher) Lemmon.
