Nellie Beverly Jean Erickson

Nellie Beverly Jean Erickson, 92, formerly of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully at Cedar Creek Manor in Kronenwetter, WI, on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

On January 24, 1932, Nellie was born to Gilbert and Lillian (Towle) Dutton in Chippewa Falls, WI. She attended Gower school, graduating from Eau Claire High School with the class of 1949. Nellie married James Erickson on July 3, 1954, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls. The couple were life-long members of Lake Hallie United Methodist Church.

Beginning her 66-year floral career at the age of 17, she was employed by Minto’s Floral and Greenhouse. She then continued at Bathke Floral in Chippewa Falls and finally working at Mays Floral in Eau Claire until her retirement at the age of 83. A career highlight was making a corsage for the former First Lady, Claudia “Lady Bird” Johnson.

Nellie is survived by her daughter, Amy (Thomas) Guse of Leland, NC; son, Hugh James (Jeriann) Erickson of Mosinee, WI; six grandchildren, Preston (Anna), Parker and Paige Guse, Olivia (Luis) Pujols, Trevor and Colin Erickson; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; sisters, Maude, Leona, Eva Mae, and Joyce; and brothers, John, Jack, Gilbert, Howard, and Vernon.

The funeral service will be at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E. Columbia St., Chippewa Falls with a visitation beginning at 11 a.m. at the chapel. Rev. Don Drollinger will be officiating. The interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery, Village of Lake Hallie, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Cedar Creek Manor, 2482 Terrebonne Dr., Kronenwetter WI, 54455.
