Ralph S. Breunig, 84, of 9168 139th St., Chippewa Falls, town of Eagle Point, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at the Reflections Unit of Wissota Health in Chippewa Falls under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.

He was born Nov. 18, 1925 in Bloomer to Ruth (McDonald) and George Breunig. He was raised in Bloomer and graduated from Bloomer High School in 1943. He entered the U.S. Marines on March 29, 1944 and served in the South Pacific. Ralph was wounded at Iwo Jima and was honorably discharged on Feb. 7, 1946, being awarded the Purple Heart.

Ralph married Marie Meisner on Aug. 8, 1946 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Bloomer and they share 64 years of happy marriage. They resided in Bloomer until moving to Eau Claire. They moved to the town of Anson on Lake Wissota in 1955.
