Ralph J. Halvorson, 92, of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at home with his wife, Linda, by his side.
He was born December 29, 1932, in Stevens Point, WI to Clarence and Genevieve (Rice) Halvorson.
He attended high school in Eau Claire and Elk Mound. He left school and served in the U.S. Marines from 1951-1953 during the Korean Conflict. He sustained a head wound and earned a Purple Heart and other medals which will be displayed at the visitation.
On March 5, 1988, he married Linda Bryant in Minneapolis, MN. They resided in Chippewa Falls, first living in a cottage on Lake Wissota. It was one of 3 houses built by the Corps of Engineers for workers who built the dam for lake Wissota. Then, he drew house plans for a handicapped accessible house where they lived until his stroke 6 years ago.
Ralph lovingly raised his two daughters, Julie and Kari during his first marriage to Beverly. He owned and operated RJ Halvorson Appraisals in Eau Claire from 1982 until his retirement in 2016, serving the Chippewa Valley in commercial real estate appraisals. He trained at several colleges and attained his MAI, the highest appraisal designation.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Julie Majkowski (Paul Thomas) of Eau Claire and Kari (Todd) Tollefson of Chippewa Falls; grandchildren, Spencer (Erin) Tollefson, Suzanne Griggs, and Sarah (Kyle) Baker; great-grandchildren, Bennett, Davis and Callen Tollefson; siblings, Ann Tiegan (Les Whisler) and Richard (Joan) Halvorson; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Janice (Bob) Davisand Alvin Halvorson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on November 14 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Jill Christopherson officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.
Military Honors by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council will follow the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date at Northern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
