Richard J. Metzenbauer

February 9, 1967 — July 8, 2025

Chippewa Falls

Richard Metzenbauer, 58, of Chippewa Falls, passed away unexpectedly on July 8, 2025 at Mayo Rochester.

He was born on February 9, 1967 to Larry and Sharon (Garnett) Metzenbauer in Eau Claire, WI.

Richard was a talented machinist, known for his attention to detail and craftsmanship. Outside of work, he was an avid fisherman who found peace and joy by the water's edge. His love for the Green Bay Packers was steadfast—there was no doubt where his loyalties lay on game day.

To his family, Ric was simply the “best dad” ever, gaining the additional title of “best papa” as grandchildren came along. He held a special place in his heart for his loyal companion, Rocky, the Australian Shepherd mix who was never far from his side. Ric proudly shared his faith and the love of his Savior, Jesus, with anybody who would listen. Ric’s warm spirit and kind heart touched everyone around him, including through his dedication to CVBC and volunteering at Ruby's Pantry. Even in death, Ric was able to serve others as an organ donor. He is going to save and impact several lives through the donation of his heart valves, kidneys, liver, eyes, and tissues.

Ric is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Tracy Metzenbauer; his parents, Larry and Sharon Metzenbauer of Chippewa Falls; his children, LaKrissa Leiser of Chippewa Falls, Darien (Carissa) Metzenbauer of Eau Claire, Austin Metzenbauer of Chippewa Falls, and Mitchel Metzenbauer of Chippewa Falls; his grandchildren, Leila, Amelia, Oakley, Jayden, Oaklynn, and Alaric; his bonus grandchildren, Beckett, and Brextyn; his siblings, Randy (Angie) Metzenbauer of Stanley, Rochelle (Mark) Sather of New Auburn, Rubin Metzenbauer of Cadott, Rob Metzenbauer of Eau Claire, and Jane (Mike) Endle of Eau Claire; his sister-in-law, Lynn (Scott) Chartrand of S.C.; his brother-in-laws, Mike (Andrea) Sandvig of Chippewa Falls, and Nick (Cori) Sandvig of MN; and his father-in-law, Ron Sandvig of Chippewa Falls; along with many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother-in-law, Darra Sandvig.

There will be a celebration for Ric on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at Chippewa Valley Bible Church. Please wear your Green Bay Packers gear, and join the family and friends in sharing memories, laughing, and celebrating Ric’s life. There will be desserts and ample opportunity to talk with the family.

A visitation will take place on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at Chippewa Valley Bible Church. Funeral service will begin at noon with a lunch to follow. Pastor Troy Solava will be officiating. Ric will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Ruby’s Pantry.
