Richard John "Squeak" Stary, 64, of Chippewa Falls died Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Dove Healthcare-West, surrounded by family and friends and under the care of Mayo Clinic Home Health and Hospice.

Richard was born in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin to Lawrence and Dolores Stary on March 11, 1952. He went to school at McDonell High School in Chippewa Falls.

He received several certificates from the Gemological Institute of America and from Watchmaking School. He apprenticed with his father Lawrence at Stary's Jewelry in Chippewa Falls.

He worked as a Watchmaker and Jeweler for Stary's Jewelry for many years, working on mechanical watches, clocks, jewelry repair and sales. Prior to that he went to school for food service and restaurant management at CVTC and worked for the family pizza business, "Larry's Frozen Pizza", where he had his own label called "Dick's Deluxe", which sold to many businesses in the Tri State area.

His interests were hunting and fishing. He played for local softball and pool leagues and was a big fan of baseball and football. His favorite teams were the Brewers and the Packers.

Squeak was one of the most loving, kind, and encouraging people. He was so much fun and loved to get people laughing. He put his family and friends first, always offering to help and teach others. He had the patience of a Saint.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Dolores Stary, and his brothers Frederick Stary and David Stary.

Richard is survived by his siblings, Michael (Tonia) Stary of Augusta Wis., Ellen Stary of Eau Claire, Wis., Mary Ann Stary of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Thomas (Christine) Stary of Cadott, Wis., Susan Stary of Winchester, Ky., Robert Stary of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Catherine (Kevin) Littrell of Winchester, Ky., Mark (Jeff Coombs) Stary of San Diego, Calif., and Patricia (David) O'Dell of Eau Claire, Wis.; nieces and nephews, Frederick (Lisa) Stary Jr., Jeremy (Wendy) Stary, Nicholas (Kim) Stary, Michael (Megan) Stary Jr., Sara Stary, Amanda (Josh) Knuth, Christopher (Tasha) Burt, Christina (David) Figueroa, Adam Littrell, Garret (Nikki) Bresina, Tracey (Mark Goettl) Bresina, Rebecca (Brian) Anderson, Jamie (Shawnna) Bresina, Kendra O'Dell, and Finley O'Dell; many great nieces and nephews; and lifetime friends, Wayne Steinmetz, Darwin Smack, and Duane Moats.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 24 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Chippewa Falls with Fr. Charles Richmond officiating. Interment will immediately follow at O'Neill Creek Cemetery, town of Eagle Point, Chippewa County.

Visitation will be from 4:10-7:10 p.m., Tuesday, August 23 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with a rosary service for family and friends at 4 p.m. Visitation will also be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

The family of Richard Stary wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Chakrabarti, the nurses and volunteers at Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, Mayo Clinic Hospice, Dove Health Care West, Dr. Patrick Macken for many years of care, all of "Squeaks" very special friends, and all the people who have touched his life in any way. Thanks for all the prayers everyone has said for him and our family.
