Robert "Bob" C. Gay

Robert "Bob" C. Gay, 85, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 30, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and under the compassionate care of St. Croix Hospice.

Bob was born on April 28, 1941, to Edward and Ann (Rembleski) Gay in Gilman, WI. He grew up with a strong work ethic that remained with him throughout his life. A farmer and machinist at heart, Bob was happiest when he was working with his hands, fixing something, or making sure everything was done the right way. Although he could build or repair just about anything, many knew him best through his more than 30 years of dedicated service at Farm & Fleet, where he made countless friendships with coworkers and customers alike.

On August 17, 1985, Bob married Pamela Halverson. Together they built a wonderful life in the Town of Lafayette, creating a home filled with love, family, and simple joys. Some of Bob's favorite moments were spent at their cabin on the Chippewa River, where he could relax, take in the peaceful surroundings, and watch the sunset after a day of making sure the lawn was perfectly mowed, whether at home or at the cabin. If there was grass to cut or something that needed tending, Bob was happiest making it look just right.

More than anything, Bob cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose quiet strength, dependability, and willingness to lend a helping hand left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He lived a life defined by hard work, humility, integrity, and an unwavering love for his family. His legacy will be remembered through the values he instilled, the example he set, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness, generosity, and steadfast presence.

Bob is lovingly remembered by his children, Steven (Christine), Debi (David), and Dawn (Sean); Grandchildren Tristan, Gavin, Jon, Ariana and Alex, sister Kathy (Don), his brother-in-law, Greg (Brenda); sisters-in-law, Char, Michele (Paul), and Sheri; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and his cat, George.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ann Gay; his beloved wife, Pamela; and his five brothers, Walter, Leonard, Richard, Ray, and his twin brother, Bill. Also, his 2 dogs Christi and Babes.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Bob's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible team at St. Croix Hospice, whose compassion, kindness, and exceptional care brought comfort to both Bob and his family during his final days. They would also like to thank everyone who offered prayers, visits, meals, and support during this difficult time.

As the sun sets over the Chippewa River, those who loved Bob will forever picture him in the place he loved most, relaxing at the cabin, admiring another freshly mowed lawn, and taking in one more beautiful Wisconsin sunset. It was there that he found peace, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the life he built with Pam. His legacy of hard work, quiet strength, unwavering love for his family, and the simple joy he found in life's everyday moments will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him. Though he may be gone from our sight, his example, his kindness, and his steady presence will remain in our hearts forever.
