Robert L. Sorensen, 70, of 620 Macomber St., Chippewa Falls, died Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

He was born April 11, 1940 in Leona, Wis. to Ellen (Glenn) and Cecil Sorensen. He grew up in Milwaukee. He then served in the U.S. Air Force for two years as a military policeman and was stationed in Calif.

Bob married Mary Haase on March 11, 1972 in Chippewa Falls. He was a Deputy Sheriff for the Chippewa County Sheriffs Department for 20 years until his retirement. Bob also worked at Presto and owned the Village Tap Tavern. After retirement he was a bus driver for Chippewa Trails and Chippewa Yellow Bus.

Survivors include: two daughters, Kathy (Marty) Rutz of Bancroft, Wis., Penny Sorensen of village of Lake Hallie; two sons, Jerry (Kim) Sorensen and Randy (Debbie) Sorensen all of Chippewa Falls; nine grandchildren, Heather, Kayla, Sarah, Billy, Molly, Rosie, Justin, Marshal and Tanner; one great-grandchild, Jaden and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded by: his wife, Mary on December 24, 2004; his parents; two sisters, Betty Drescher, Elaine Corey; a brother, Gerald Sorensen.

A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 23 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls with Rev. Fr. Robert Hoekstra of the Chippewa Manor Retirement Community officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.

Friends may call from 4 p.m., Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral chapel.
