Robert W. Vaudreuil passed away peacefully on September 18th, 2017 following complications associated with COPD at age 88 (born 12.31.1928).
He is survived by his daughter, Danielle Vaudreuil Hoffer (married to Steven Kenneth Hoffer) and older brother Jack Ludwig Vaudreuil, affectionally known as “brother”. He will be laid to rest alongside his wife of 52 years Georgia Vaudreuil (1927-2009) and his daughter Lisa Marie Vaudreuil (1959-1976).
Bob (AKA fun-loving Uncle Bob) will be remembered as social, kind hearted and personable man that warmed up to everyone he met, even in his final days. After graduating McDonell Catholic High School in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, he attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (PA) before joining the Navy during the Korean war from 1950-54. Returning to Chippewa Falls to take over the Huebsch family business with his brother Jack, he renewed a childhood relationship with Georgia from their summers on Lake Wissota as kids and they married in 1957.
An avid water and snow skier, one of Bob’s other recreational joys in life was golf, which he gave up to raise his children and give them his full attention. Living at the lake, teaching his children to swim at an early age and water ski at age 4, traveling the country in a travel trailer, and buying a farm so they could live with the horses, dogs and cats, were a few of the selfless things that he did for his family, notwithstanding to fulfill Georgia’s love of designing houses, traveling and caring for animals. He lived by his favorite phrase that “women control the world” and content to abide by it.
Upon retirement from Huebsch, Bob and Georgia enjoyed the game of golf together, wintering in Fort Myers, Florida, with Georgia taking great pride in outscoring him. His final selfless act was caring for his wife as her health declined for 10 years from COPD. Upon her passing, he willingly moved to PA to live with his daughter and son-in-law for 7 years. They enjoyed 5 years traveling and rekindling relationships with family and friends before his health began declining. Bob moved to a nursing home in September 2016 close to his daughter’s home. He loved his new accommodations and was adored by the staff.
Please send donations in memory of Bob to Cindy Alexander, Lutheran Home at Topton, Office of Development, 1 S. Home Topton Avenue, Topton, PA 19562 to support the wonderful care of those in need.
