Roland Olson

Roland E. "Ole" Olson, 79, of the Rutledge Home, Chippewa Falls, died Tues., March 29, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chippewa Falls.

He was born August 26, 1931 in the town of Lafayette to Emma (Hoepner) and Albert Olson. He was raised in the town of Lafayette where he also attended school. He was employed at Burger Hanson Auto in Chippewa Falls.

Roland married Shirley S. Siddons on August 28, 1954 in Stillwater, Minn. He worked for the Chippewa County Hwy Dept. for 18 years and then was a partner with Tom Laird in the excavating business from 1967 - 1973. He then owned Ole's Place on Allen St., Chippewa Falls from 1973 - 1976. He was then employed for Devney Construction as a heavy equipment operator and then for Proud Excavating. He was a bus driver for Chippewa County until his retirement.

Ole loved helping his family build race cars and attending races.

Survivors include: three sons, Fr. Randy Olson of New Auburn, Rory (Barbara) Olson, Rodney (Heidi) Olson all of Chippewa Falls; four grandchildren, Ryan, Rachel, Shelby and Parker Olson; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Shirley on December 28, 1991; a sister, Ruth Westrom and a brother, Gerhardt Olson.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 1 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Terri Koca of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m., Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral chapel.

A funeral service for Roland E. "Ole" Olson, 79, of Chippewa Falls was held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 01, 2011 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. Rev. Terri Koca of Trinity United Methodist Church officiated and music was provided by organist, Barbara Sandford and vocalist Doug Parker. Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls. The final blessing at the grave was given by Ole's son, Fr. Randy Olson. Casket bearers were: Dean, Todd, Brian and Bill Siddons, Brad Halvorsen, Terry Stoll and Bill Westrom.
