Rosemary Davis

Rosemary B Davis, 91, with family members at her side, passed away Friday, March 1 at Aggie’s Country Living in Eagleton.

Rosemary was born at her home in Chokio, MN on March 26, 1932, to the late Rose Mary (Leither) and Joseph Bachel.

She was the youngest of nine children and grew up on a small family farm. Her family moved to Brainerd, MN in 1944 where she attended grade school and high school. In 1953, she moved to Minneapolis to work at N.W. Bell Telephone Company but had to move back home later that year to take care of her mother. She returned to N.W. Bell Telephone Company in 1955 and worked there as an accounting clerk until 1959.

During that time, she met a man she would love for the rest of her life. On September 7, 1957, she married Les Davis. Over the next 66 years, they took a journey together that neither could have imagined. Her life was anchored by her Catholic faith and commitment to God.

After their first child was born, she stayed at home dedicating herself to raising a family and supporting Les’s career aspirations at Control Data and Cray Research. With a young family, there were many uncertain times, but she always managed to be there to comfort and support the family.

She was a loving, giving and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She wanted nothing but the best for her family. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or special event. Whether it be Valentine’s Day or Halloween, Easter or Thanksgiving, there was always a card with a token of her love. Nothing brought her more joy than attending her grandkids’ activities as she would go to as many sporting and school events as possible.

Rosemary attended mass at Notre Dame church as often as she could and was a frequent regular at the Chippewa Family Restaurant where she was treated like royalty. Before moving into town, she enjoyed walking around the Lake Wissota loop with her friends and playing cards.

She took pleasure in sewing and knitting and would make quilts and clothing for family members. She also enjoyed Rosemaling. As the years went by, it was difficult to continue these hobbies, but she looked back fondly on all her works.

Rosemary is survived by four children, Theresa (Dave) Meinen, Jane Davis, Tom (Pam) Davis, Mary Davis (Craig Joslin) all of Chippewa Falls; five grandchildren, Nicole (Matt) Bowe of Chippewa Falls, Ryan (Ashleigh) Meinen of Lake Elmo, MN, Ali Davis (Joe Nigro III) of Hopkins, MN, Ashley (Sam) Rubenzer of Chippewa Falls and Andy (Claire) Davis of Lake Elmo, MN; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Les; four sisters; and four brothers.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Aggie’s Country Living and Interim Healthcare for their kindness and care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family that will be donated to many charities dear to Rosemary’s heart.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March, 7, 2024, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 117 Allen Street, Chippewa Falls, with a visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. at church. Fr. Jesse Burish will be officiating. The interment will be in Hope Catholic Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
