Steven W. Smith

Steven W. Smith, 72, of Chippewa Falls, died Monday, November 17, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System – Eau Claire.

He was born August 31, 1953 in Rice Lake to George and Esther (Bryngelson) Smith. After graduating from Rice Lake High School, Steve served in the U.S. Navy from April 20, 1973 to February 8, 1974.

Being from a large family, Steve learned to cook for groups and worked at various hotels and restaurants as head cook in Chetek, Menomonie, and Rice Lake.

Steve is survived by his sister, Wendy (Bruce) Rundhaug of Cameron; brothers, George Smith Jr. of Springfield, OR, Lonnie Smith of Barron, and Dale (Joyce) Smith of Rice Lake; sister-in-law, Char Smith of Cameron; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Joyce Burling, Beverly Kuhrt, and Lana Ewald; brothers, Larry and Terry Smith; and infant brother, Jerry Smith.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 9, 2026, at Northern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
