Vernette C. Morrissey

Vernette “Nettie” C. Morrissey, 81, of Chippewa Falls, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at LakeHouse in Chippewa Falls while under the care of St. Croix Hospice.

Nettie was born September 16, 1944, in Eau Claire to Fredric and Arlene (Pehlke) Henning.

On August 26, 1967, she married Thomas Morrissey at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls. She worked at Mason Shoe Company for 34 years and then Northwestern Bank for 12 years before retiring. In her spare time, Nettie enjoyed gardening-vegetables and especially flowers. She also loved her dogs.

Nettie is survived by her brothers, Stanley (Karen) Henning of Elk Mound and Vernon Henning of Waterloo, WI; brother-in-law, Bernie (Linda) Morrissey; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom in 2022; son, Brian in 2024; brother, Rodney (Betty) Henning; and sister-in-law, Joyce Henning.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 12 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Horizons Bar and Grill in Tilden starting with an opening prayer and immediately followed by a luncheon.

A private family graveside service was held at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner, WI.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Jude or a local humane society.

The family would like to thank the staff of LakeHouse and St. Croix Hospice for providing Nettie with exceptional care and compassion.

A final message from Nettie: To my wonderful friends and family: thank you. I am grateful for the memories we created, the laughs we shared, and the love you gave me.
