Violet Jones

Violet A. Jones, 88, of Chippewa Falls, died Monday, May 24, 2010 at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire.

She was born January 29, 1922 in Kiester, Minn. to Caroline (Sivley) and Arnold Berg. She grew up in Austin where she graduated from high school. She moved to Portland, Oregon during WWII to work in a ship building factory. After the war she then returned to Austin. Violet's brother, Frank Berg and her future husband, Ray Jones met while they were prisoners of war in Germany. After the war Violet and Ray were introduced and were married April 24, 1948 in Austin. After their marriage they resided in Albert Lea, Minn. until moving to Chippewa Falls in 1953.

She has been a resident of Dove Healthcare West since May 4, 2009.

Survivors include two daughters, Roberta Blaeser of Eau Claire, Judy (Richard) Eystad of LaCrosse; a son Robert Jones of Eau Claire; two grandchildren, Ryan (Diane) Jones and Jessica Eystad; one great-granddaughter, Teanna Jones; one brother-in-law, Lloyd Jones of Las Vegas; a sister-in-law, Ella Berg of Austin, Minn. Also survived by her caregivers: Sherlene, Una, Ann, Pauline, Caroline, Rachel and her devoted daughter, Roberta.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, Ray on October 29, 1999; a grandson, Matthew Blaeser in infancy; a son-in-law, Michael Blaeser; four brothers, Arnold, Francis, George, Richard and one sister, Garnet.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 27 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fr. Robert Hoekstra of the Chippewa Manor Retirement Community officiating. Family graveside services will be in Prairie View Cemetery, village of Lake Hallie on Friday morning.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral chapel.
