Donald West

Donald Elwin West, 86, of Chippewa Falls passed away peacefully at his home on November 11, 2017.

Don was born February 19, 1931, to Earl and Edith (Sulzberger) West. He grew up in Ransom, IL and Council Bluffs, IA. Don proudly served 4 years in the United States Navy then attended Indiana Technical College earning a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Don married, Juliann Walker in 1951, in Council Bluffs, IA, they had three children and made their home in Chippewa Falls.

Over his lifetime, Don worked for American Oil, CT Film and in 1970 started Bloomer Plastics and was there until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, canoeing, reading and woodcarving.

Don is survived by his wife, Julie; two children, Valerie (Dean) Naber and Michael (Penny) West; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; his brother, John E. (Sharon) West; sister-in-law, Leota West; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Edith West; his son, Donald David West; and brother, Earl Dean West.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14, at Christ Episcopal Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Rev. Aaron Zook will be officiating. A private interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Don was a civic minded community member. In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Don can be directed to the Bloomer School District.
